Funnel.io vs Supermetrics vs a Weekly Meta Read
Funnel.io vs Supermetrics in 2026: a $300/mo governed data hub against a $55/mo connector, plus the third option most Meta-only advertisers actually need.
Funnel.io vs Supermetrics is a real decision, and it is not the one most people think they are making. Funnel is a governed data hub that stores and models your marketing data. Supermetrics is a connector that moves it. If your ad spend is Meta and only Meta, there is a third answer, and it costs less than either.
Why this matters
Both products solve the same surface problem: your marketing data is trapped in platform UIs and you want it somewhere else. They solve it at different depths, and the entry price gap is roughly 6x. Buying the wrong depth costs you in both directions — overbuy and you pay $300 a month minimum for governance you never query, underbuy and you hit a seat cap two weeks into the quarter.
Funnel's own comparison post puts Supermetrics in a bucket it calls lightweight connectors, and the framing is blunt:
"A connector moves the data but doesn't store or govern it." — Brian León, Funnel.io alternatives, 22 July 2026
That is an accurate description of the split. It is also a vendor arguing that its own category is the necessary one. Whether storage and governance are worth 6x depends entirely on how many channels you run and who consumes the data downstream.
What each one actually is
Funnel is a data hub. It ingests from a very large connector library — 639 connectors as of this writing — normalizes the schemas so that a "campaign" from one platform lines up with a "campaign" from another, holds the result in governed storage, and exports to dashboards, BI tools, and warehouses. The product is the modeled, persistent dataset.
Supermetrics is a transport layer. Its Facebook and Instagram Ads connector exists to "Move all your Facebook and Instagram Ads data to your reporting tools." It carries spend, reach, engagement, creative-level breakdowns and audience performance into Looker Studio, Google Sheets, Excel, Power BI, or a warehouse. The product is the pipe and the schema at the end of it.
Neither one tells you what to do. Both hand you a clean dataset and stop. That is not a criticism — it is the job description of the whole data-integration category, and both do it well. It just means that the analysis, the diagnosis, and the decision are all still yours after the invoice clears.
Head to head
| | Funnel | Supermetrics | |---|---|---| | Category | Governed data hub — ingest, normalize, store, distribute | Connector — extract and load into a destination you already own | | Connector library | 639 total; 117 on Starter, 579 on Business, 600+ on Enterprise | Sold by count of sources you enable: 3 on Starter, 6 on Growth | | Export destinations | 13 on Starter, 46 on Business, 47 on Enterprise | 1 core destination on Starter and Growth; multiple on Enterprise | | Data storage | Yes — data is stored and governed in the hub | No — Supermetrics moves data to storage you provide | | Entry price | From $300/mo, billed annually. No free plan | $55/mo, or $44/mo billed annually | | Seats at entry | Unlimited users from Business ($600/mo) up | 1 user on Starter, 2 on Growth | | Refresh at entry | Not seat- or tier-gated in the same way | Weekly on Starter, daily on Growth (Sheets) | | Try before buying | No free plan listed | 14-day free trial, no credit card | | Buy it when | Many channels, a warehouse, and people downstream who depend on one definition of a metric | One or two channels, one analyst, one destination |
Two rows deserve to be pulled out because they are where buyers get surprised.
Supermetrics Starter refreshes weekly. Per Supermetrics pricing, the Starter plan's data refresh is weekly and Growth moves it to daily. If you are pacing a Meta budget against a monthly target, a weekly refresh at $55 is a very different product from a daily refresh at $222. Price the tier you will actually need, not the one on the left of the page.
Funnel has no free plan. Per Funnel's pricing, Starter begins at $300 a month billed annually, so the smallest real commitment is roughly $3,600 for a year of a product you have not run in production. Business at $600 a month is the tier where unlimited users and warehouse destinations like BigQuery and S3 turn on, which is the tier most teams describing a "Funnel use case" are actually describing.
The third option
Here is the part the vendor comparison pages will not put on the table: if you run Meta and nothing else, you may not need a data-integration product at all.
Both products are priced and built for breadth. Funnel's value compounds with every channel you normalize into it. Supermetrics sells sources by the unit. Neither model does anything for an account whose spend is 100% Meta, because the normalization problem they solve — reconciling Meta's schema against Google's against TikTok's — does not exist for you.
What a Meta-only advertiser wants is not the dataset. It is the four or five decisions inside it. Which creative is fatiguing. Where spend is leaking. Which campaign moved, and whether the move is real. That is a diagnosis job, not a pipeline job.
Good Morning sits in that third position. It is read-only Meta Ads access, $50 a month, and the output is an urgency-tiered action list — Act today, This week, Monitor — not a dataset. The analysis is already done when you open it. Zero analysis required is the actual product claim, not a tagline. Full pricing is on the pricing page.
That is a narrower product than either alternative here, and the narrowness is the point. It does not connect to Google. It will not feed your warehouse. If you need those things, buy the pipeline.
Which one you actually need
Buy Funnel if you run four or more paid channels, you have a warehouse or BI layer, and more than one team argues about metric definitions. The governance is the thing you are buying and it is worth the money at that shape. Below that shape you are renting a data foundation to answer questions a single dashboard would have answered.
Buy Supermetrics if you have one or two channels, one destination you already like — Looker Studio or Sheets, usually — and one person who builds the reports. Start on the trial, and check the refresh cadence on the tier you plan to keep.
Buy neither if your spend is Meta-only and what you actually want on Monday is a decision. The pipeline gets you a clean table. The table is not the deliverable. See the head-to-head on Funnel.io and the Supermetrics comparison for the long-form version of each.
If the question you came in with was "what should I use instead of Funnel," that is a different question with a different answer, and it is worked through in full in Funnel.io alternatives in 2026. This post is the vendor-versus-vendor call.
A Monday, three ways
Illustrative, not measured — this is the shape of the workflow, not a case study.
An account spending $80,000 a month on Meta. Frequency on the top-spending ad set has climbed past 3.5 and CPA is drifting.
With Funnel: data lands normalized in the hub overnight and exports to your BI tool. You open the dashboard, find the frequency trend, cross it against CPA, decide the two are related, and identify the ad set. How long that takes depends entirely on whether someone already built the view. If nobody has, you are building it this morning.
With Supermetrics: the Meta data refreshes into your Looker Studio report. Same sequence — read the charts, connect frequency to CPA, isolate the ad set. On the Starter tier the numbers you are reading may be up to a week old.
With a pre-diagnosed weekly read: the fatigue call is already made and the ad set is already named, in the Act today tier, with the frequency figure attached. You execute. There is no chart to interpret because the interpretation is what got delivered.
The difference is not data quality. All three are reading the same Meta numbers. The difference is who does the thinking.
Common mistakes
- Comparing entry prices instead of workable prices. $55 versus $300 is not the real gap. Supermetrics Growth at $222 versus Funnel Business at $600 is closer to the comparison most teams are actually running, because those are the tiers with daily refresh and with unlimited seats respectively.
- Ignoring the seat cap. Supermetrics Starter is a single user. If two people need to touch the reports, you are on Growth, and the $55 headline never applied to you.
- Buying a hub for one channel. Funnel's normalization value is a function of channel count. At one channel it is close to zero, and you are paying for governance instead.
- Assuming a connector produces a report. It produces a table. Somebody still has to build the view, and that somebody is usually the person who wanted the report in the first place.
- Treating "we have the data" as the finish line. Data availability has not been the bottleneck for Meta advertisers for years. Deciding what to do on Monday morning is the bottleneck.
FAQ
Is Funnel.io or Supermetrics cheaper? Supermetrics, clearly, at the entry tier — $55/mo monthly or $44/mo annually against Funnel's $300/mo billed annually. The gap narrows if you need Supermetrics Growth ($222/mo) and stays real against Funnel Business ($600/mo).
Can Supermetrics do what Funnel does? Not the storage and governance layer. Supermetrics moves data into a destination you own; Funnel stores and models it in the hub itself. If your warehouse and your transformation layer already exist, that difference matters less than the price gap suggests.
Does either one tell me what to do with my Meta Ads? No. Both deliver data. Supermetrics' Meta connector carries spend, reach, engagement, creative-level breakdowns and audience performance to your reporting tool; the interpretation is yours. That gap is what a pre-diagnosed weekly read is built to close.
How many connectors does each have? Funnel lists 639 connectors, gated by tier — 117 on Starter, 579 on Business. Supermetrics sells access by number of enabled data sources: 3 on Starter, 6 on Growth.
I only run Meta. Which should I buy? Probably neither, unless you are feeding a warehouse. Both products are priced for breadth you do not have. A Meta-only account is better served by something that produces the decision rather than the dataset.
The one-line takeaway
Funnel is the hub, Supermetrics is the pipe, and if you run Meta alone you may need neither — see how Good Morning compares to Funnel.io for the version of this decision where the third option is on the table.
